Midwest School for Women Workers

August 16-19, 2009

Courtyard Marriott, Bloomington, IN

The Midwest School for Women Workers (MSWW) brings together union women to develop leadership skills, understand challenges, share experiences and increase knowledge concerning issues which face the labor movement. Held annually since 1976, the MSWW equips women to become more active in their unions and to become effective leaders who help build solidarity to strengthen their unions.

The Labor Studies Program at Indiana University is proud to host the 2009 MSWW. The theme for this year's conference is "Steppin Up, Stepping Strong: Effective Leadership." Women, through their roles as leaders, have a responsibility to and play a central role in strengthening the labor movement by educating their members, cultivating relationships, and building solidarity.

The MSWW is open to all union members in the Midwest region, but the school's main focus is to meet the educational needs of union women. Women who participate in the school are typically active at many levels in their unions and wish to help foster the growth of the labor movement.
